Hidden Messages Watching cartoons is a huge part of everybody 's childhood growing up. Everyone always has a favorite cartoon or favorite Disney movie or even a favorite cartoon/disney character growing up. We watch these cartoons over and over and over again and we adore them as kids and even as teens and adults. But these cartoons are teaching us hidden messages and hidden themes throughout the context we do not even know about. And these messages are not exactly morally acceptable. They are sexis and racist. There are tons and tons of examples of cartoons that teach kids at a young age the themes of racism, sexism and making young girls think they have to be perfect like Cinderella. In the many cartoons and Disney movies, they are teaching society from a young age certain themes and messages that correspond to how us children growing up are suppose to live our lives and how we are suppose to view the world. For example, the Disney tale of Cinderella(1950) teaches little girls they need to be beautiful and pretty to be loved. There 's plenty more hidden messages we take in from these cartoons. A main message is racism. It’s hard to believe it but the beloved and well respected cartoons we watch as kids are feeding us racism. It’s outrageous but sadly very true. Famous Paramount Pictures corporation brought us the very popular cartoon Popeye(1933). This cartoon had it all. And by that I mean this cartoon had both sexism and racism. Racism was a big factor. The main character who was a hero and was always saving the day was white. The villains were Brown. And what did these brown villains do? They stole, raped and terrorized the communities of innocent white americans. These brown villains from the other countries did not speak english or a language at all. They just spoke in gibberish. This is teaching us racism right in front of our eyes and our society is to naive to see
