What is your understanding of the issue in general?
Aboriginals or First Nations in Canada were living peacefully with their tribe until the first settlers had came to Canada. The First Nations have long been discriminated and harshly treated ever since then. In the beginning, the new settlers had taken away the lands that the First Nations were living on. During the interaction between the settlers and the First Nations, there were some arguments that involved some First Nations to be killed by the settlers. Centuries later, when most of the land that the First Nations had lived were taken away from them, the descendants of the settlers have promised them to give back the appropriate amount of land they deserved. In the end, it did not happen. The First Nations were angry so they started to protest, but it ended up with bloodshed of the First Nations. The hardships that the First Nations face from hundreds of years ago, they still face it today. First Nations now face poverty, bad health care and many more that us as non-aboriginal majority.

Also, the First Nations are the same as us, they are human but they are not treated as they are human. First Nations live in poverty, some might not have a chance to go to school, some might have drug abuse and even some want to commit suicide because of the terrible conditions they’re living in. But us, non - Aboriginals are living in prosperity and this is not fair to the First Nations. Even though now people are saying that there are no second class people in Canada, the First Nations are evidence that there are second class people in Canada since they are not treated in a way like everyone else is
