Globalization refers to the world economy and has had a significant impact on history. Migrants & refugees and sovereign debt & default highlight two of the five transnational issues affecting the benefits and detriments of globalization. Migrants & refugees pose the greatest challenge to US interests. Governments realized the potential boost to their economies with international trade by expanding exports and created a world economy.
Globalization proposes that governments increase their economic growth by buying and selling goods internationally in agreement with trade laws. Globalization expanded the world market with all countries increasing the manufacturing of goods and commodities, labor, marketing, and distribution. Globalization is an important concept based solely on the fact that it reduces poverty levels by manufacturing goods and selling them to countries and people who can afford them. The challenges come from the fact that our current institutional and social arrangements are unsuited for aging populations and shifting demographics and therefore must be changed. Population aging is taking place in all countries of the world with the number of older persons expecting to more than double having major social and economic consequences. The answers to the problems of an aging population contribute to the future of our society and how we will progress economically as a nation state. Health care programs continue to be the primary focus, however; the impacts on technology, education, transportation, housing, employment, and policies will ensure our transition to an equitable, aging society.
