Urbanization is occurring at a very fast pace in the current world. A lot of developments and inventions are being realized in order to fulfill the needs of the growing populations. However, in the process of urbanization either directly or indirectly, a lot of damages have been done to the surrounding environment. Pollution and humans are quite correlated to each other. According to Holdgate (1979), activities carried out by human to the environment that affect the organism and ecosystem are called pollution. In general, pollution can be categorized into four major categories such as water, air, soil, and noise (refer to Figure 1 in Appendix). The first type of pollution is water. According to Goel (2006), water pollution can be defined as a group of factors causing aesthetic or negative effects on the water consumers. It occurs when there are regular changes in terms of the content, condition and color of the water …show more content…
Noise pollution means emissions of annoying sound from traffic and industrial and recreational infrastructures (Urban & Máca, 2013). Most of the sources of this pollution come from outside of the home such as transportation systems, including noise from vehicles, aircraft and train. Not only that, sources of noise pollution in and around the house are noisy sound like a car alarm, siren emergency services, construction machineries, barking dogs, electrical equipment, motorized appliances, and loud audio entertainment systems. Sound effects are related to health and natural behavior like ear buzzing or 'tinnitus' which can cause a person to experience memory problems, severe depression and panic attacks that cannot be overlooked. There are various strategies to prevent noise pollution. For example, road noise can be reduced by using noise barriers, limiting vehicle speed, road surface texture change, limiting the weight of the vehicle, using a smoothing traffic control traffic flow to reduce
