Political Parties are organizations that tries to promote their views by having control in the government. The two main political parties are the Democratic party and the Republican Party. However, there are multiple other political parties which are considered third parties. The third parties that are discussed in this essay is the Green Party of the United States, the Libertarian Party, and the Constitution Party. The Green Party is a very liberal party that has more similarities with the Democratic party than the Republican Party. Their goal is to make America more economically and environmentally stable. Their idea of a perfect democracy is a grassroot democracy, which would get citizens involved more and government decisions. The Green Party has an eco-social vision of their country. Social justice and equal opportunities, such as giving men and women equal respect, is very important to this party. The Green Party also strongly believes in nonviolence, which means getting rid of nuclear weapons and cutting military spending to lowest possible. Ecological sustainability is another important factor in the Green Party. They strive to better our Earth with solutions like a strong international climate treaty, using more renewable resources, and ocean protection laws (Green Party US, III. The Democratic Party and and Green Party are both pro-choice when it comes to abortions. They both as well are advocates for using more environmentally friendly energy resources (Insidegov, Democratic Party Founded 1828 vs Green Party Founded 1984, n.d). The Republican Party supports contributions for campaigns, but not from corporations as well as supports the disclosure of campaign funding resources. The Green Party believes the campaign finance system is very corrupt and only rely on relatively small contributions to fund campaigns.
