“The Gift of the Magi”by O.Henry; “The Necklace” by Guy de Maupassant, and “The Scarlet Ibis” by James Hurst all deal with the idea of sacrifices and rewards. Doodle and Della are two very different people Della is poor and lives in New York in a small apartment, and Doodle is a disable child that is from South Carolina, both Doodle and Della made hard sacrifices and got rewarded for them.The reward was worth the sacrifice that Della and Doodle made.
