This quote shows that she can't save everyone even though she wants to. Compared to the start of the book, she is accepting help to survive. Later in the story, she is offering help to others, trying to save
For example, Mayella takes advantage of Robinson when she accuses him of raping her and gets him convicted. It makes me really sad that people like her got away with these things and that no one in Maycomb said anything. Boo Radley is much luckier, but in both cases, they are the mockingbirds or the people who were the most harmless. Another thing this quote helps me better understand is the role of innocence in To Kill a Mockingbird. Innocence plays an important role because, throughout the book, characters like Atticus and Miss Maudie remind Scout that killing a mockingbird is not all right.

Pg. 173-174 To me this quote is very important because he is deathly afraid of Mautz and Virgil but he stands up to them because he doesn't want to expose Sarah. My second quote is “ The letter was clear:shaky as I was, I was her only friend. I'd rather have her hate my guts and be safe than love me and by alone.
The men on the hills didn’t have to be murderers. The men in the city didn’t have to lower themselves to fight their attackers. She didn't have to be filled with hatred. ”(22) This quote is important because it shows that the death and destruction could have been prevented if the circumstances around her were different, yet destructive forces from people of power were used to lower citizens and permit violence and death through hatred.

The theme of “survival” could be related to any book. In the book, The Red-Scarf Girl: A Memoir Of The Cultural Revolution, Ji-li had to overcome all the challenges such getting called a black whelp, getting humiliated and other things that some people can’t bear that pain. The theme of “survival” does relate to this book because Ji-li had to bear public humiliation and other things in order to survive. This quote connects to how certain anxieties can ignite, for instance, since she has murdered people and will never be able to make love anymore,
Also, one important message implied is that not everything you see or hear about a person is always true. Many people may act differently just to impress others and play a particular part while deep down they feel the total opposite. Just because someone may be walking around with a smile doesn’t actually mean their life is actually picture perfect; everyone has their own inner conflicts. This is a mistake often made by those who think the “grass is greener on the other side,” and to those people who don’t really realize what they have until that one thing is
Not only their but also the stories of all the other slaves that were not able to tell their story themselves, about the suffering that the faced day in and day out at the hands of their oppressors. It also said to the nation that they should be ashamed of how they were treating these people, demanded that they do something about the injustice that black people faced and to remember this as a part of history. As Frederick Douglass warned in an 1884 speech, “It is not well to forget the past. The past is…the mirror in which we may discern the dim outlines of the future and by which we make them more symmetrical. ”(Blight, pg. 9).
Another example would be, “Then see I won’t be eating. / and trudge home to my beating.” (14, 16). Hudgins uses the words “eating” and “beating” to show that the little kid is about to get punished when he gets home. These quotations also connect as a whole to the theme because they will show people that sometimes certain situations won’t always go the way they want it
I say that because In the text “ someone is always at my elbow…”( paragraph 7 , page 2).That quote means that even though she is doing something good someone is gonna remind her that she is stuff worth nothing but she will never
Animals and plants become at risk for extinction, or endangerment, when environments and ecosystems are changed by human activities or other natural causes (Wright & Boorse, 2014). Regrettably, human activity is usually the source of environmental change and endangerment to a species through pollution, over-consumption, and in some regions of the world, over-population (Wright & Boorse, 2014). Also attributable to the destruction of a species, are the human activities that result in habitat loss and the introduction of an exotic species into foreign ecosystems (Wright & Boorse, 2014). Human activity is not solely to blame, as each species also has natural predators; however, habitat loss, relating to economic development, appears to be the
She continues to connect with the reader on a personal level showing them that there is a moral choice hoping the reader will walk away with that in their head. She states “A country song I once heard said it all for me. “You’ve got to stand for something or you’ll fall for anything”” (Ericsson 129). By highlighting this country song lyric, she justifies and helps persuade the reader that there is a dark side to lying. Ericsson quotes George Bernard Shaw by saying “The liar’s punishment (…) is that he cannot believe anyone else” (Ericsson 128).
