Nick Carraway’s story was never just about his time with Jay Gatsby; the story no one really knows is how he fell in love with the girl with stars in her eyes, the girl from a different time. She came from a whole different world than what Nick Carraway knew, a world of cell phones, music beyond jazz, and clothes of all kinds. This girl was only twenty-five when she found herself falling for Nick. I suppose in order to truly understand this story, we must start at the beginning of it all. She got an interview at the top fashion company in California. Now making her own designs and allowing her assistant to help her as well, giving her the chance she never received. Lilian was going through the designs she wanted in the upcoming fashion show she was hosting, when her assistant Shelly walks in. “Sorry to disturb you Miss Blake. I remembered your love for the 1920s and found this book I think you would enjoy.” “Thank you so much Shelly.” Shelly smiles and leaves. Lilian looks at the book, The Great Gatsby. Curiosity getting the best of her she opens it. She finds it to be dedicated to an L.B. Flipping to the back of the book she finds a note from the author. “There was once a woman I fell in love with, in a very brief amount of time. She was not from around where I lived. There was light within her that inspired me, her words and faith in me are the reason I could write this book about Gatsby’s life. I encourage all of you to do the same, follow your dreams, never settle for less.
