The films The Great Gatsby and Midnight In Paris are effective in representing the novel The Great Gatsby. The director of the film “The Great Gatsby” Baz Luhrmann does a good job in selecting what character the actors should play. Baz Luhrmann also does a good job in the selection of the music, he did a mixture of old 20s music to modern music from right now. On the other hand the director of the film “Midnight In Paris” Woody Allen also does a good job on using some elements from the novel The Great Gatsby. Woody Allen applies some of the novel The Great Gatsby themes into his film Midnight In Paris. Woody Allen did a nice job in making Gil the main character from the film similar to Nick and Gatsby from the novel. An example of that is Tom because in the novel it says Tom was an intimidating person so what Baz did was to get Joel Edgerton to play the role of Tom since he’s a pretty big guy. The actors in the film The Great Gatsby do a very nice job in bringing the characters to life it helps you understand the novel a little bit better in imagining how they would be in real life. For instance Jay Gatsby in the film is just like the one in the novel very secretive and no one really know who he is or what he does. What also makes the film good was the scenes, the scenes really do help you out understand the book way better. Baz made sure in really showing how wild Gatsby’s parties got and showed how many random many people went to Gatsby’s parties not knowing who Gatsby was. The soundtrack in the film was unique or special in a way because it had a combination of modern music and old 20s music which made the soundtrack interesting.
