The American dream is something many people wish to achieve. The American Dream is when all people have equal opportunities and can accomplish what their heart desires and what their dreams are. As the world progresses and is advanced with new technology and ideas, this dream is becoming difficult to reach. Most people give thousands of dollars for college and come out with loads of student loans. As the world evolves, so does the amount of money for college. “Much to the working class’s disadvantage, the cost of higher education has disproportionately risen in comparison to the income of average Americans.” (White) As this generation gets to the point of what they want to major in and what their future career will look like they have to take into consideration the money they have. Education is becoming such a difficult thing to grasp as you get into college and beyond. Most 18-20-year-olds are not going to have much money going into college. They are at an unfair disadvantage and can not go into the steps of the American Dream. “As the world has become more evolved, more jobs require education further than high school.” (White) Not only is it already expensive to get into college, most jobs require it. “The Trump Administration’s tax breaks may boost markets, but will likely increase public debt even further, calling for more cuts to education and healthcare.” (Gallo). It states that debt will increase even more for people. If people are in a hole of debt, then it is going to be hard to obtain the American Dream. You can't go out and purchase things if you don't have the money to do so. This is due to you having to pay back loans, credit cards, bills, etc. “If "let-them-eat-credit" policies allowed the 99% to borrow and increase their well-being over the past decades, interest rates have now reached rock-bottom and private debt levels are at their highest.” (Gallo) If debt levels are the highest they have ever been then how are people supposed to get what they want/need for the American Dream?
