People evolve and adapt to become different based upon the new experiences they’ve had. The Daisy we know today has become acclimated to her lifestyle with tom and although she knows of his affairs and sometimes wishes to leave him, we know she would go back to him because his money and power is her security. Her love for Gatsby may have been real in the pst, but her love for him now is materialistic. Current Daisy is a collapsing star; she literally hit Myrtle with a car and then left, giving no thought to Myrtle. “To Daisy, Myrtle is expendable. She is not of the social elite, so what difference does her life make?-After killing Myrtle, Daisy returns home. Daisy clearly doesn’t love Gatsby in the way that he loves her.
