When reading the book, “Fahrenheit 451” and the article, “The Great Imagination Heist” they argue the same topics yet different. The are both saying arguing about books and technology. In the book the character Captain Beatty has a interesting conversation with Montag about books and why they must burn them. In the article it is claiming why we should read more and be more involved in reality. Both stories give good valid logic to behind their thoughts to point out the claim.
The article does a significant job of providing evidence. The narrator gives experiences with students and compares and contrast students from the fifties to students now. The narrator talks about how writing is different and how students imaginations are not as good as they once were. The purpose for the article is to show how technology is slowly starting to rupture to imaginations of children. They are lacking knowledge and are not using their brains like children once were. On page 57 he says, “More sports for everyone, group spirit, fun, and you don’t have to think, eh?” Captain Beatty goes on to more evidence that is shown in their society. His purpose is to tell Montag that books are useless and stir up trouble. He basically is telling Montag the story why they burn books. The Author uses good imagery and great structure. He lists things and makes them seem like it goes by so fast to prove his point like on page 57 when Captain Beatty says, “ Don’t step on the toes of the dog lovers, the cat lovers, doctors, lawyers, merchants, chiefs, Mormons, Baptists, Unitarians, second generation, Chinese, Swedes, Italians, Germans, Texans, Brooklynites, Irishmen, people from Oregon or Mexico.” The shows that the Author does a great job of structuring and proving his point like the writer of “The Great Imagination
