The Salem Witch Trials started in 1692 and ended in 1711. The Salem Witch Trials were the period of the Puritan religion’s belief in witches in Salem, Massachusetts. The trials started with Betty Parris and her orphaned cousin Abigail Williams, when the girls began to contort their bodies, crouch beneath furniture and speak words that don’t make sense. When the girls were diagnosed as bewitched, it led to the witchhunt called the Salem Witch Trials. In Rosalyn Schanzer’s Witches!
The simple assault “conduct” by Kraus did cause “bodily injury” which is not considered too trivial. In New Jersey v. Bazin. examples of de minimis infractions are cited. New Jersey v. Bazin.
I believe that this event is best classified as self-defense. Self-defense is defined as the defense of one's person or interests, especially through the use of physical force, which is permitted in certain cases as an answer to a charge of violent crime.
CJ Canale Mrs. Cheney English III/ Per 3 December 5, 2015 The Crucible – Historical Witch Hunts A witch-hunt is the act of unfairly looking for and punishing people who are accused of having opinions that are believed to be dangerous or evil. The topic of this research paper is McCarthyism and how it affected Arthur Miller and others in the 1950s and how the events compare to the events in his play The Crucible.
many similarities to the affairs that were unfolding around the author at the time of writing, the mass hysteria aroused by the communists ‘witch-hunts’ of cold war, 1950s America. As we follow the harrowing results of released repression, the hysterical accusations of Salem bears direct resemblance to communist McCarthyism as well as other similarities that unfold as the play narrates one of the most tragic periods of American history. Amidst the apparently insipid, puritanical village of Salem there was little controversy due to its populations consent to theocratic autocracy however this apparent peaceful, holy sanctuary was rife with evils that conjured the demonic hysteria throughout Salem village; these were caused by an amalgamation
The Dreyfus Affair was a false accusation of treason by the French government on a jewish artillery officer, Alfred Dreyfus. In December of 1894 the trial began to investigate French secrets being passed on to the German government. The accusations were dealt to Alfred Dreyfus, who was quickly accused of treason and sentenced to time on Devil’s Island on the island of French Guiana. While Dreyfus was serving his time in “prison”, Georges Picquart, was digging deeper into the trial and came up with evidence to blame Ferdinand Esterhazy, a high ranked military official, with the treason. This was quickly silenced by the French government.
Our human nature requires us to be products of our environment. If someone grows up in a house that appreciates art, those that grow in the house are likely to inherit that trait as well. Those that grow up in tribal society are likely to hold those tendencies for the rest of their life too. As we see in Mark Bowden’s “Tales of the Tyrant” in this tribal way of life people live independently; they need not work with others, because they only have themselves. Saddam Hussein did not know how to civilly operate with others around once he rose to great power; so he was forced to use his village mentality where violence is the rule of law, thus leading to his intense and irrational cruelty.

Harry Potter walked to the train at the King’s Cross Station. Seeing Potter come towards his direction, Draco Malfoy threw a rock towards that specific direction. Although the rock flew past Potter’s face, it bounced off the walls, harming Potter in the back of his head. Thus, the injury caused Harry to get stitches on his head. Malfoy should be found guilty under the Hogwarts Wizarding Code of Conduct, stating a person is guilty of assault if they knowingly or recklessly cause bodily injury to another, because he recklessly threw a rock to the oncoming people.
I like Draco Malfoy because his character overall is massively complex, and you need to take a lot of time to analyse the book and his actions to understand his character. For example, in Half-Blood Prince there was multiple details emphasising his reluctance to kill Dumbledore. The details are subtle, and can easily be mistaken for elated anticipation, such as his wand dropping a fraction. That can happen to anyone, though his words are forced, just like he felt like he was forced to kill Dumbledore. Also, the bathroom scene itself was awful for him.
