After years of killing, Bundy was finally captured. He was found driving a stolen vehicle with a stolen license while driving in Penescola (Margaritoff). After two days in custody, Bundy finally revealed his true identity (Margaritoff). Police were suspicious about Bundy and linked him to the Chi Omega Sorority killings (Margaritoff). Investigators had eyewitnesses and evidence linking Bundy to three murders, including a mold of his teeth from the bite marks found on the sorority girl (Montaldo). Bundy was then found guilty and sentenced to two death sentences via electric chair (Montaldo). Bundy went to trial for a second time after this for the murder of 12-year-old Kimberly Leach. He finally let his attorneys represent him and they decided on an insanity plea. This was the only defense possible with all of the evidence they had against him (Montaldo). Bundy displayed many new emotions throughout this trial. He seemed more angry, threw fits, and slouched in his chair (Montaldo). Bundy was yet again found guilty and received a third death sentence (Montaldo). During this trial, Bundy called Carole Ann Boone, a woman he had worked with, up to the witness stand. He then asked her to marry him, Boone believed that Bundy was innocent, and she accepted in front of the judge making the marriage legal (Gainsburg)(Montaldo). While on death row, Bundy spent many years in prison before he was executed (Margaritoff).
