Change is an important, maybe the most important, part of life. It moves everything around us, and inside us. The novel that this essay is analysing is called The Hate U Give, and it was written by Angie Thomas. In The Hate U Give, a teenage girl named Starr witnesses a police officer unjustly murder her lifelong best friend Khalil, and she must use her voice to fight for his justice and against racism. Starr and Chris are at the prom, however, Chris has been silent the whole time and hasn’t said a word to Starr. Eventually, she gets mad at him and goes back to the car. When he comes to talk to her, he confronts her about him not telling her she was the witness who saw Khalil die.
