Egyptian society during the ancient period was characterized by a complex hierarchy and social structure that was divided into various classes. The ancient Egyptians believed that their society was ordered and controlled by their gods and goddesses, and this belief shaped their social order. The Egyptian social hierarchy is composed of five classes that were ranked from highest to lowest. These classes included the pharaoh, the nobility, the scribes, and the peasants. I will discuss each class and its significance in Egyptian society. In Egyptian society the lowest class are the peasants and slaves, this class was taxed heavily. They worked in fields and sometimes as servants for the nobles or higher-ups. Most slaves were people or soldiers they captured during war.
