Tolkein has managed to keep the idea that the Hobbit is set in another world because of his use of setting. He describes his surroundings so in detail, that it makes you feel like you are in the setting as well. When it says in chapter 7. It says, “ The air rushed over him and he shut his eyes… The sun was still close to the eastern edge of things.The morning was cool, and mists were in the valleys and hollows and twined here and there about the peaks and pinnacles of the hills.” In addition to the setting, the characters also give the feeling that they aren’t from this world.
