Books and movies have been around for many years and lately movie directors have been making more and more movies based off of books. Most people do not know that around 50% of movies are based off of books. Although, it really depends on what people mean when a movie is “based” off a book. Some directors say a movie is based off a book, but has a different plot and seems totally different. So, in order to keep true to the book, directors keep the plot relatively the same, but there are a few times they decide to change the message entirely by changing just a few key events.

The Hunger Games vs. The US The Hunger Games is an adventurous yet somewhat violent trilogy that shows another side of what American government could turn into. The US government is slightly different from Panem’s government, but has similar qualities. Both take place in the United States and have a President, but Panem’s President is president until they die. Where as the US President is president for four years and then there is an election.
In the movie, The Hunger Games it stated, “Hope is the only thing stronger than fear.” Each story represents hope and fear. In the story “The Lottery” and the movie, The Hunger Games the main characters Katniss Everdeen and Tessie Hutchinson feared death, but hoped for everything to be fine. Katniss hoped and her hope came true, Tessie on the other hand, did not turn out the same.
You have lost all hope. You feel like there is no way you are getting back up, and you wish you didn’t have to suffer anymore. Would you get up and try again or accept your fate? For Katniss in the dystopian novel The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, she had lost everything, but got back up every time to keep her family safe. For Tris in the dystopian novel Insurgent by Veronica Roth, she gave up entirely and wished she was dead, but in both of these stories, the authors used the mood of the reader and the protagonists’ actions to show that you shouldn’t let negative emotions control you.
Have you ever read a book, then watched a movie and thought this were very similar? Well that happened to me I read the book “I Am The Messenger” and I watched the movie “The Book Thief”. They were similar because of some of the characters, Another thing is the theme of “I Am The Messenger” and ”The Book Thief” was very similar. The Characters in the book and the movie were very similar.

For Point of Contact, my concept was to evaluate The Hunger Games. What is the main idea or main argument of the text? I believe that the main argument of the text is that humans can be more violent than we actually think and that people can change political issues more than they think. Analysis: What does your subject try to achieve? The Hunger Games may be attempting to make literature more realistic by writing about things or events that could be a potential future.
So a lot of small details from the book have to be cut. Also the movie has to rearrange the events in the book in a way that it is interesting for the spectator to watch. Sometimes books jump in time and use different literary methods that have to be changed when adapted to movies because they can slow or interrupt the rhythm of the movie.
