Breonna Taylor was a 26-year-old African American, who was shot and killed on March 13, 2020, in Louisville, Kentucky. Breonna’s death was a result of racial injustice and became a highlighted case in the Black Lives Matter movement. This event touched many lives, especially Oprah Winfrey, a former American television host and founder of The Oprah Magazine. Winfrey voiced in her article, Taylor was "just like me, she was just like you. And like everyone who dies unexpectedly, she had plans. Plans for a future filled with responsibility and work and friends and laughter” (The Oprah Magazine, 2020). Taylor was a relatable young woman, working towards goals and had big dreams for her future. Breonna Taylor was an emergency room technician working towards becoming a nurse and had plans to start a family. The hashtag #SayHerName on social media became trending, keeping her name alive and spreading awareness to the tragic racial injustice that took place. Although many claim within one year of her death not much has changed legally, there is still justice to be handled in court. Yet the image of Breonna Taylor has changed the hearts and minds of those unaware of the daily racial injustices happening. In wake of this impactful image petitions, donations, and protests spread the importance of her life and death. Taylors image on ‘O magazine’ made her a known face and name across the nation. Winfrey’s decision to make Taylor the front cover image showed importance and the relevance to other racial injustices happening during the height of the BLM
