During the 1900s there was an increase of racial discrimination. Most people of colour were not given the same rights as those not of color. That is until Jackie Robinson, the first African American Major League Baseball player, “broke the color barrier” (Jackie Robinson). Just by playing baseball Jackie Robinson made a very important impact on the Civil Rights Movement in 1950 through 1960. Some of his contributions to the advancement of the Civil Rights Movement are how he changed the history of baseball, showing how he overcame the challenges he had to face. Jackie Robinson was the first African American to play in Major league baseball. When he retired in 1957 he left a huge impact in the history of baseball. He broke the “colour barrier…
