Kanye West is an American songwriter, rapper and fashion icon who’s had a major impact on the music industry and popular culture. Since 2000 when he began his music career at Roc-a-Fella Records to where he is now known around the world, he’s been a determined man on a mission. Kanye has used his fame throughout his career many ways but most certainly has made a huge impact on music, pop culture, and even touched on the fashion world. When Kanye writes music he loves to write about controversial or difficult subjects whether that's his own struggles or problems with the world. No matter what he's never scared to say what people don't want to hear, which isn't always a bad thing. For example, in his song “Power” Kanye goes into his own corruption of fame. Kanye also shows his love for controversial subjects in the song “Ultralight Beam '' where he talks about faith and looking to divine power. Beyond music kanye has made impacts in other ways too, such as his cultural impact. Kanye has been known for his actions and making unfiltered controversial bold statements over his career. One of the most crazy actions Kanye is known for is during the 2009 MTV music video awards. Kanye has made a huge influence on streetwear clothing and turned it into high end fashion. In 2009 Kanye launched his own brand named Yeezy. Yeezy all started back in 2006 when Kanye was asked to design a shoe for Adidas, except they never released his design after all his work. Later on Kanye kept pushing and released his first shoe with a brand called “Bape” called the “College Dropout”(Ferria). These are an amazing example of how big Kanye is now in the fashion world because if you can find those shoes anywhere you might have a hard time seeing past the price
