Edgar Allan Poe’s last words before he died were, “Lord, help my poor soul.” Edgar Allan Poe didn’t have a very good life. He struggled with depression and a bipolar disorder. Poe’s life affected his writing by how he lost many people, his childhood, and how he struggled with mental illnesses. When he wrote, he wrote how he felt and put those feelings into words Poe lost many people during his life including his mother. Poe took these deaths to heart and he was hurt by the deaths. When Poe wrote, it was mostly about death, sorrow, and grief.
