Crosswalks are one of the most important parts of the roads and of road safety. Crosswalks are there to keep pedestrians and drivers safe. Without crosswalks our roads would be a very dangerous place. As a driver one needs to always be looking for anything unexpected like pedestrians especially at crosswalks. As a pedestrian one should always used crosswalks and still look before crossing for their own safety.

Being safe drivers includes anticipating whatever situation comes their way. If there is a person on the sidewalk looking like they might cross a driver must slow down and be ready to stop for them to cross. Or if there is a driver slowing down in front of them and a crosswalk is coming they must anticipate that the driver in front is stopping for a pedestrian. Crosswalks are one of the biggest things that drivers must be on the lookout for. Drivers must know that in front of places like schools there is likely to be a crosswalk so that kids can cross the street to get to school. This is one of the places drivers must be most careful as kids are the most vulnerable pedestrians as they do not understand the roads like adults who themselves are drivers. Drivers have the responsibility of looking out for these kids and other vulnerable pedestrians that do not understand the roads as well as others. Children are told to look both ways and then cross in the crosswalk because the crosswalk is the safe place for them to cross, so drivers must follow the rules of the road and pay attention for crosswalks and especially people crossing in crosswalks. Crosswalks are an essential part of the roads and there would be extreme chaos without them especially in places where a lot of people need to cross. Drivers need crosswalks to remind them that pedestrians may be crossing and that they need to slow done. There is also often signs that remind drivers of crosswalks and that it is a law that drivers must yield to the pedestrians. Of all the rules of the road yielding to pedestrians is most definitely one of the most important of all as it protects the vulnerable pedestrians.
