High school students looking to graduate encounter difficult decisions, and when making those decisions they need to look forward to hypothesize the outcome. America generally believes that a college degree is basically a requirement just for entering the working middle class. According to the essay “Should Everyone Go to College?” by Stephanie Owen and Isabel Sawhill, higher education is not a great investment for every student.
In “Are Too Many People Going to College?”, Charles Murray writes, “Today, if you do not get a B.A., many people assume it is because you are too dumb or too lazy” (253). Basically, Murray is chastising the social norm for a young adult to get a college degree. Though I concede that expectations to go to college put on by counselors, parents, and the media are way too much, I still insist that everyone should be able to go to college regardless as it is financially beneficial and provides a unique perspective of the world. Although Murray puts up a good defense of how America infatuation with a college degree can lead to a class disparity, the author lacks the practicality of Core Knowledge, consideration of how a college education has its intrinsic and monetary merits that students can get by completing a degree, and an opposing view that a college degree does not necessarily lessen the
“College in America” Caroline Bird thinks that a college education may not be the best choice for all high school students because college education does not bring about social equality, it does not benefit them financially, and it is not guaranteed that college will lead them to an elite profession. Nowadays education is very valuable to the point that it will help a student get a job in the future. A job that is well paid and provides a good living for that person. Many controversies have been set high whether college is worth it or that it is not for everyone.

For most its college, and many of those students do not have a clue about what they are about to get themselves into. The Ohio State Academy serves as an exceptional opportunity for any student entering the grades 7-12. However, the program also has its drawbacks and challenges. Personally, while I see many advantages to The Ohio State Academy program, I also acknowledge the challenges and believe that I will be able to overcome them through making changes to the way my life is structured.
The newly changed law that high schoolers can’t skip college and go pro is thought to be changed in the future. The current law says that the athlete must be at least 19 years old to enter the league. Whether the law is for or against high schoolers going pro, it will change basketball at all levels. Many of us are faced with tough times, hard decisions, and struggles but there are only certain people that have the willpower and determination to overcome those obstacles and change their life for the better. Many of us are faced by little challenges like when the alarm clock goes off for school. Do we get up and go to school or do we go back to bed? The immediate reward is going back to bed and getting the satisfaction of more sleep but the downfall is that you miss your classes. This didn’t seem like an important decision for me until I got to college.
College is one of the most significant times in a person’s life. Every year high school kids will visit many different colleges so that they can be confident in their college decision. Some kids will follow in their parent’s foot steps and base their decision on where their mom or dad went, though, not all kids are fortunate to have help from their parents. Education: “Higher Education was the privilege of the few, and even upper secondary education was denied to the majority of young people in many countries” (“Fifty Years”). “Today, the great majority of the population completes secondary education. The importance of education has increased over the years, and has become a number-one priority and/ or main focus moreso today than in the 1960s. Due to this increase, there have been more people attending college, and more opportunities have come out of this better education.
It has taken many years for people in society to break out of the norms and expectations of how to grow up and live in the world. A huge factor in this “revolution”: attending college. Whether it is taking a gap year to discover the world and the waiting opportunities, or simply running with it all after high school to work, attending college isn’t considered a given anymore. Now not all cases are the same for every person, therefore they can only decide what is the best path for them after high school. Still, the benefits of a being a college graduate will never be diminished.
For many years, a question has been ask trillions of times throughout the homes of families. What are you going to do after High School? Everyday you hear many different answers and bunch of different lectures of what you should and what shouldn’t you do. As you can see the Philippines education is not that good and to improve our education system is through k-12. There are many pro arguments for k-12 program first is enhancing the quality education. This is very much needed here in our country, as stated before we have a poor educational system.
