The Ohio State Academy serves as an exceptional opportunity for any student entering the grades 7-12. However, the program also has its drawbacks and challenges. Personally, while I see many advantages to The Ohio State Academy program, I also acknowledge the challenges and believe that I will be able to overcome them through making changes to the way my life is structured. The advantages of attending the Ohio State Academy are nearly endless. These advantages are designed to encourage students to further their education and reach their full potential. For example, when one decides to attend the Ohio State Academy, he is introduced to college-level coursework. Many individuals often struggle within their first months of college because they are not familiar with the increased academic rigor. Therefore, introducing students to this higher level of learning earlier increases the student’s ability to be familiar with the structure of college academics and be more likely to succeed within his or her first months of college. Additionally, when a student attends the Ohio State Academy, the courses he decides to take count towards his college diploma. When attending, a student must make changes to his or her lifestyle in order to accommodate dual enrollment which can be particularly demanding. Therefore, the student must be willing to make alterations to his lifestyle in order to dedicate full focus to his schoolwork. These alterations may include the following: working less hours, playing less sports, and having less free time.
