In a team,no matter the leader or the team members both need motivations to accomplish their works. Both intrinsic and extrinsic motivations are necessary and important.Intrinsic motivation is our internal satisfaction and personal fulfillment.Extrinsic motivations are external rewards and usually are tangible. Our group were supposed to finish our volunteer day few weeks ago,but since our leader was sick at that week,we had to delay to next Monday.On that Monday,the place we should be volunteered just had forgotten that we were going to their place at that day,so we have to delay again to Wednesday.So for our group,we did our work so late.Plus,this group project carries 35% overall marks for this course,so it is very important so every member was worried and wanted to accomplish it soon and get good marks.This is the extrinsic motivation for us. As for intrinsic motivation,this was the first time for most of us to do “soup kitchen”,we wanted to do it well.Most of us are dad and mom’s baby in home,So at that day,we did many things we …show more content…

Based on Fiedler’s Contingency Model, we would have good leader-member relations, as the atmosphere in group is peaceful and nice as members trust and have confidence in the leader, Viknesh. Besides that, we all have a clear goal to accomplish in this project, and work goes easier when we all know our parts and roles. In other words, the task structure in our group is high. From the project, we also know that our leader has a high position in power as he was able to plan and fairly distribute the work to each member. In terms of the Situational Theory of Leadership, the more experienced volunteers there demonstrated the Selling style of leadership, as they not only carried out high amount of task, but also held a friendly relationship with us, teaching us and pointing out our mistakes throughout the community
