He used this to his advantage in writing and in conversation, making himself come off smarter than he actually was. He also happened to have a knack for multiple choice, a skill that helped him achieve a perfect score on the SAT. The reason that Kirn succeeded in school was because of his natural skills and his competitive spirit, which made him want to be the best in his class. Yet many kids, even in elementary school worked far harder than him but just did not possess the same ability to breeze through school. In fourth grade, students were encouraged to compete in reading by seeing who could read the most the fastest.

Kids start to fall behind and their mindsets towards school are less likely to be considered at all. “For Hispanics in the United States, the educational experience is one of accumulated disadvantage. Many Hispanic students begin formalized schooling without the economic and social resources that many other students receive, and schools are often ill equipped to compensate for these initial disparities” (Schhneider). In Outliers, Gladwell demonstrates the education system involving today’s KIPP Academy located in New York City specifically towards Marita’s educational life.
In my opinion, the study that was done wasn’t fair. Speaking of unfair, the KIPP students have got it pretty rough. What they go through over the weekdays, weekends, and summer are unbelievable. As I read through, all I pictured it as was a prison. However, the longer school hours and more amount of school days allows for longer classes.
The parents choose to put their kids future on the hand of luck because they want the best education for their kids to succeed. The documentary Waiting for Superman stated that our nation public school system was used to be the dream of the world. However, that system remains the same pathway during 20 years when the world surrounding is changing every day. Our student is ranked 25 in the world, but they are the number one in confidence that they are doing the best. In fact, public education system is working on reformation and charter school expansion, which indicates that charter school serve students
The police officers arrived at Ms. Dollree Mapp’s home, looking for a bombing suspect who was believed to be staying with Mapp. Officers knocked at her door and demanded entry. After placing a call to her attorney Mapp decided not to let law enforcement enter her home. (Landmark Cases) After a few hours, the officers returned to Mapp’s home with what they claimed was a search warrant (Landmark Cases); while, Mapp still wouldn’t allow them entrance; they used brute force to gain entry to the home. After the officers were inside of the house, Mapp grabbed the paper from the officers, and she was handcuffed “because she had been belligerent”.

Since the age of four, I have attended various math and writing classes, closing the initial gap between me and my classmates. Also, I spent my eighth-grade year at BASIS Ahwatukee, similar to the KIPP Academy mentioned in Outliers, where teachers drill academic proficiency into the students’ minds. As a middle schooler, I took eight classes a day, three of which were required science courses. These circumstances represent the “rice paddy” analogy where you can use grit and diligence to wipe away any disadvantage. As a result, I am currently rank one in my class, taking all AP or honors courses.
Many teenagers would agree the last place that they want to be is in school. This attitude is evident in both “I Go Along”, and “I Just Wanna Be Average”. However, as much as some may defy school, it is undeniable that education opens up opportunities to those of all academic levels. For instance, after attending the accelerated English class’ field trip, Sharon encourages Gene to excel in school.

As for the executive elite school, it emphasized the development of the students’ analytical intellectual abilities. Students were encouraged to reason through a problem, and to produce work that was of top academic quality. Overall, the “hidden curriculum” of school work causes students to
The resilience and perseverance they show when playing video games or looking for the perfect outfit is unavailable to them when it comes to schoolwork. They think that learning should be like
The diversity of student backgrounds, abilities and learning styles makes each person unique in the way he or she reacts to information. The intersection of diverse student backgrounds and active learning needs a comfortable, positive environment in which to take root. Dr. King continues by explaining, “Education which stops with efficiency may prove the greatest menace to society. The most dangerous criminal may be the man gifted with reason, but with no morals.” From back then to today’s society, kids are failing because they lack those morals that they need to succeed.
