Self-determination is the process by which a country, a group of people who view themselves as a distinct nation determines its own statehood and forms its own allegiances and government. This idea came with the 14 points of the president of the United States of America, Woodrow Wilson. Then with the formation of the United Nations organization, it became a right. However, this right is not always protected. It is the case for the Palestinians; they are deprived of their right to self-determination. They will not be able to practice this right unless they have their own country. It will give the Israelis their word and the Palestinians theirs. Concerning the frontiers, both people agreed on the 1967 borders so this is not the problem. The real problem is that the Oslo Accords imposed on both entities to recognize the existence of the other one. Moreover, the international community did not help respecting the agreement as it was written. In order to make the two-state solution work, the point of the recognition of one another should be removed from the agreement and the United Nations organization should send their peaceful troops on the agreed borders of the two countries so that no one can ignore them. In that way, Palestinian land will be protected and they will be able to make their government, their political system and their voice will be heard.
