Introduction
In the education system all around the globe, teachers are struggled with finding motivating strategies to help students learn. This is especially in the social studies classroom. Although using technology, group work, and hands-on activities will encourage students to learn social Studies.
Implementation of Technology
Integration of technology in the classroom motivates students to learn social studies. Barkley (2013) stated, “Technology has been a boon to teachers and students in making learning ‘come alive’ and hold interest of all students” (p.1). Many students enter the classroom with a real world background where they use electronics such as phones, iPod, tablets, and laptop. However, students will engage in learning more about social studies due to the usage of such technologies in the classroom. To make learning come alive, students access the Internet through phone, laptop, tablet, kindle, and other electronics to view articles and videos online based on the lesson. It has been said, “effective technology integration offers opportunities to enhance social studies instruction and to increase student motivation while preparing students with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to become good citizens, which are the fundamental goals of the social studies” (Heafner, 2016).
