Choice is the act of making a decision when given multiple options. This decision is often made for one's benefit but typically can affect other people. “The choices we make every minute of every day can contribute to making someone's life a little bit better or worse even without intending to.”-Chikamso Efobi. This quote shows how the simplest of decisions that a person could make might have the largest impact on the people around in both a positive and negative way. An example of this would be Juliet's decision, in Romeo and Juliet, to be loyal to Romeo rather than her family and how it had an impact on her values and the people around her. As mentioned above, Juliet was very devoted to her family at the beginning of the play but over the course of the play, she lost her loyalty to her family and gained loyalty to Romeo. This shows how Juliets values altered from a family comes first type of opinion to love comes first. Along with Juliet's altered opinions, the choices that she made throughout the play resulted in tragic endings for some. For example, Paris’s death could have never happened if Juliet decided to not fake her death. The Friars quote “These violent delights have violent ends.” is almost a perfect representation of Romeo and Juliets relationship and its effects. It shows how their relationship was never built to last and ultimately did more bad than good. The Prince’s quote at the very end of the play “ some shall be pardoned and some punished” holds a significant meaning as it shows how the decision Juliet made to fake her death but still ended up killing herself because she didn’t see any worth in life if she wasn’t with Romeo, had a lasting effect on the 2 families. The Prince is also talking about how no one tried to end the feud between the 2 families sooner and eventually, this tension led to the deaths of
