Brandon Le Period 6 “The Interlopers” and “The Most Dangerous Game” are two short stories written by completely different authors, Saki and Richard Connell. Even though they were written by different authors, the characters in the stories have some things in common, but at the same time they also have their differences, as well as the plot. A similarity is both characters had deep hate for one another. In “The Interlopers”, Ulrich von Gradwitz hates Georg Znaeym because Georg is hunting on his land, but Georg hates Ulrich because he claims that the land is his. At the beginning it is stated that Ulrich and Georg had a deep hate for each other even as children “ as boys they had thirsted for one another's blood, as men each prayed that misfortune might fall on the other”. In “ The Most Dangerous Game”, Rainsford hates Zaroff because Zaroff is hunting down and killing innocent people just for his own entertainment just because hunting animals is just too boring for him now. In “The Interlopers”, after Ulrich and Georg got trapped under a tree that fell on them, they ended up becoming friends. In the story, Ulrich said “"Neighbour," he said presently, "do as you please if your men come first. It was a fair compact. But as for me, I've changed my mind. If my men are the first to come you shall be the first to be helped, as though you were my guest.” That indicates that he had given up on trying to fight and wanted to work with Georg to try to get help. In “The Most Dangerous Game”, Rainsford and Zaroff were enemies from the beginning ‘till the end. Towards the end, Zaroof told Rainsford that he had won but “Rainsford did not smile. "I am still a beast at bay," he said, in a low, hoarse voice. "Get ready, General Zaroff." So that proves that Rainsford and Zaroff were enemies until the
