Research Paper “The jury finds John Doe guilty of murder in the first degree and we hereby sentence him with capital punishment which in the state of Random is death by lethal injection or firing squad.” Imagine hearing these words from two different sides of the story. The first side is that of a man whose wife and two three year old daughters have been practically massacred and John Doe is the man to be held responsible. A sort of trivial victory right? Now imagine the same situation is taking place but instead John Doe is your wrongly accused son. Those words are the most devastating thing to here at that point. Continuing further, imagine it is now the day of the scheduled execution and John Doe has opted out of lethal injection and has chosen death by firing squad. The guns sound at the count of three and blood, flesh, and bone go flying through the air. Unfortunately, though very extreme, the bloodbath still fails to kill John Doe. Through research, reports sate that the overall popular source of execution is lethal injection, but with Europe refusing to supply the drug cocktail necessary to perform the procedure, states are forced to find alternative means of execution. All states do offer lethal injection, but the alternatives are as follows: Electrocution 8, lethal gas 3, hanging 3, and firing squad 2(table 2).
