Clyde Tombaugh Clyde Tombaugh was a man of great achievements in the field of astronomy. Born on February 4, 1906, in Streator, Illinois. Even as a young child Clyde had a very strong interest in astronomy. He created his own telescope where he then drew what he saw in the sky. This provided him the opportunity to work in what could be imagined as his dream job. This is where he happened to make his greatest discovery. As a child, Clyde had a strong interest in astronomy. Both his father and uncle supported him in his interest of stargazing. The first telescope he ever looked through was his uncles. After buying his first telescope from Sears he decided he was dissatisfied and wanted to make his own. His father then picked up an extra job
