The Life of a Girl of Many Names Marilyn Monroe lived two very different lives and had many different names. In her early years she used her given name, Norma Jean Mortenson. Later, she switched to Norma Jean Baker, using her mother’s last name. Then, there was her stage name, and beyond the most famous one- Marilyn Monroe. Eventually, this evolved from her stage name to her legal name. No matter the name she went by, some things never changed. These being the hardships she endured while growing up, her astounding career, and her mysterious death. Marilyn had always struggled with mental health issues. Her childhood was filled with delusions, and she described feeling worthless and having suicidal thoughts in her upbringing. These soon resurfaced in her adulthood. She suffered from depression, had many self-deprecating thoughts, and had little to no motivation to truly live. She was found on August fifth, 1962 on her bed, naked, in hand the receiver of the phone. She was dead, the cause was an overdose. After forensics analyzes her they determined that it was a mixture of drug toxicity, chloral hydrate, and nembutal that killed her. However there are many inconsistencies in her case that bring questions. Police had found a pill bottle by her body, but there was no water which would have had to mean that she dry swallowed it. Despite this, there was no pill residue in her stomach that would have indicated this. Her friends claimed that she seemed to be recovering, in fact, they had plans with her to go to the movies later that day. Many believe her death was a cover-up, that she had seen too much during her alleged affair with the Kennedys. To be fair, Robert Kenedie had confessed to being with her earlier that day. Adding to this, there were also inconsistencies regarding when she died. She gives motivation to all to persevere, but especially for those who don’t have a perfect home life. She shows that no matter what anyone says you can become anything you dream of, no matter what one may think. Her childhood and career itself were not the perfection that one may believe, she truly had to adapt in her situation, and when she failed, she died. Despite the mysteries that surround her death there is no doubt that her life itself was
