Controversial?.... Heartless? President Harry S. Truman has made the toughest decision that anyone in this world has ever made. Whether sacrificing millions of American lives thousands of warships, planes and killing millions of Japanese lives. Verses sacrificing thousands of japanese civilians. This decision was on the shoulders of President Truman. It was on him to decide if The United States were to invade Japan and have millions and millions of lives fall or kill thousands by dropping the newly designed atomic bomb on Japan. They were going to invade a country taught to die rather than to surrender. The japanese were ruthless fighters and were not scared to die. The Japanese had kamikaze suicide pilots who turned their planes into guided missiles. Truman and Americans new the cost of an invasion would be extremely high. With warning president Truman decided to drop the bomb. Not surprisingly one bomb wasn't enough for Japan's surrender it took Two atomic bombs. I believe the decision to drop the bomb was right. The world was divided on a life saving decision to drop the atomic bomb many people believed it was a wrong, that it wasn't necessary to drop such a devastating weapon but the dauntless decision of dropping the weapon was a brave and right decision it didn't just save millions of American lives it saved millions of Japanese lives as well. If the the attack never happened we could be living in a completely different world right now. President Roosevelt needed a reason to be drawn into the war and killing thousands of American lies drawed us in. The Americans favored the allies in many ways but coming from World War I the US didn't want to have anything to do with World War II. If the attack on Pearl Harbor didn't occur the war would of gone in a different way. Once the US entered the war a year later they were dominating the Pacific after the Battle of Midway the US took out 4 of Japan's aircraft carriers and turned the war around. Without the US being in the war the japanese could of turned their attention around and helped focus their attention to helping the Nazis. Without US involvement in the war the axis powers would've definitely dominated the war. The allies were in desperate need of help and the Battle of Normandy and the final battles of the war show how much impact that we
