In the beginning of The Maze Runner, the reader is introduced to the leader of the Glade. Alby stands in front of Thomas when he first arrived to the inner walls of the Glade. An African American stands in front of Thomas with a look on his face. Later in the book, Alby proceed to show Thomas around the glade, Thomas learns more about his personality. Alby shows to be a responsible leader, but he could be hard to get along with. He's a jerk to Thomas and is strict about the rules of the Glade.
