There were quite a few pieces of art from our trip to the Leepa Rattner Museum that interested me but nothing grabbed my attention quite like Rattner's triptych titled, "The Last Judgement". The immediate sensation that enveloped my mind after witnessing this huge piece of art was one of chaos and helplessness. The contrasting colors and tones made me feel an intense sense of unease and general discomfort, which wasn't helped by the actual symbolic meaning of the piece. To my understanding, Rattner created this triptych in an attempt to depict what the world would look like after an atomic bombing, which can likely be associated with Hiroshima. It is sometimes difficult for individuals to settle the discrepancy between truth and illusion, and consequently they drive others away, by shutting down. Mrs. Ross, in The Wars by Timothy Findley, is seen as brittle while she is attending church, and cannot deal with the cruel reality of the war and therefore segregates herself from the truth by blacking it out. As a result, she loses her eyesight, and never gets to solve the clash between her awareness of reality and the actuality of the world. She hides behind a veil, and her glasses to distance herself from reality. Mrs. Davenport has to wheel her around in Rowena’s chair to keep her awake, so she doesn’t harbour up subconscious feeling within her dreams, which she is unable to deal with.

“Never that which is shall die.” This quote appears in the beginning of The Wars quoted by Euripes. This phrase means that once something exists, it never really dies. In the novel by Timothy Findley, the quote strongly relates to the main character Robert. As the story continues on, Robert starts off with innocence and despite all the terrible things he does throughout the book, his innocence and kindness never really dies, it will always be present.
¬¬¬¬¬The Wars Essay The concept of resilience is often described as being able to recover from difficult experiences or pasts, where one’s resilience could be impacted by drastic changes that occur in their lives. It is something that guides one’s decisions and often defines their morals and what individuals perceive to be right or wrong; depending on the situation they are encountering. Resilience is highly dependent on the thought of empathy, where the resilience of people who have experienced empathy will be different from others who haven’t. How individuals deal with these differences determines one’s level of empathy and also impacts their resilience.

Responsibility often comes with the connotations of burden and sacrifice and most of the time, this is true. In The Wars, by Timothy Findley, the concept of responsibility is demonstrated in the character of Mrs. Ross whose duties as a wife and a mother may be viewed as cold, cruel, and purposefully isolating; the complete opposite of the archetype of a compassionate mother figure. However, like each unique individual in society, the way one responds and takes responsibility varies infinitely; Mrs. Ross attempts to dissociate from society when she feels she has not fulfilled her duties and responsibilities. However, her empathetic nature prevents her from completely isolating herself from all sentiment. Rather, she subconsciously internalizes the welfare and hardships faced by others while sacrificing her own well-being.
The article “Terrible Things, by Eve Bunting” is an allegory about the Holocaust and how no one did anything, and people ended up suffering. In the video “ Child of the Holocaust is about this man named Fred Gross who was three years old when Hitler started taking over his town. He talks about how there were so many good men that could have done something but they didn’t. The Holocaust happened in world war 2 and it was ran by Adolf Hitler a Nazi/ German. The Holocaust killed more that 18 million people in all.
War, something that sounds so cliché yet endeavours a greater meaning; a meaning of finding your true self within yourself, and seeing your natural, brave or mediocre side. The concept of bravery and heroic men is often the label associated with war; however, in Timothy Findley’s The Wars, it is in fact the exact opposite. The Wars is an anachronistic example of what one goes through both physically and mentally. Findley accurately portrays the protagonist, Robert Ross, as a naïve nineteen year old who wishes to escape his excruciating feelings of reality for being held accountable for Rowena’s death by enlisting into war, as well as to adhere to societal norms. Even though the story, “The Destructors” by Graham Greene utilizes some elements of commercial fiction it can be categorized as literary fiction. This story contains more of the complex elements of literary fiction. The story’s main literary elements include intricate conflicts, a unique protagonist, and On the surface, the conflict of the story appears to be based simply around the Wormsley Common Gang and the destruction of the house. However, once readers go deeper the conflicts in the story begin to reveal themselves as more complex and literary. They’re not just boys that want to generate chaos and destruction, but they’re boys that are living amongst the consequences of war.
Are people solely good or evil? Some others would reply yes, but Graham Greene the author of The Destructors would respond differently. He believes people aren 't just good or evil. The author reveals his belief through his characterization of Trevor and Blackie, along with his use of irony.
God of Carnage (Rough Draft) The central theme that I got out of God of Carnage was how uncivilized we are as humans. Two couples meet to discuss an altercation between their kids and nothing gets solved. There is total mayhem between the two families and the more they stay around each other the worse the behavior gets.

Different theorists have their own perspective on the evolution of technology but, although each of their views differs from another, they shared certain common features, mechanism, and incidence in technology. Some theorists have developed distinct approaches to understanding the nature of the technological process and the relationship between technological development and the social world.
Synthesis Essay New technological advancements are assisting people in their everyday lives, and the future for technology looks bright. But, alas, that which glitters is not always gold. Christian Lange once stated that “Technology is a useful servant, but a dangerous master” (Christian Lange). Society is becoming more and more reliant on technology, but there may come a time in which people solely rely on it to function.
The world today is overflowing with technological gizmos which have greatly affected the lives of people. People have become overly dependent on technology. The technology seems to have control over our lives. Over the last decade, it has done nothing but become more advance from day to day. Gadgets such as computers, smart phones, and television have been invented over time to make our lives easier and more convenience.
