Near the end this whole ordeal, John Archibald sees that his son his not going to be saved in time. In the beginning of the movie where John has to choose between keeping the car or the house, he chooses the house because it will benefit his family more. Now his son is dying, and he has to consider what will benefit his family, his ultimate concern, the most. He does not decide, he knows that this is what he has to do. He has to give his son his heart. He does this for two reasons. One, his end goal is to have a supported, loving family, and this is what needs to do to have that, even if he no longer alive. She does not try to find any help for the Archibald’s and when John fills out the incorrect paperwork, she blankly tells him that he did it wrong and needs to resubmit it.
