The textbook “The Message of the Old Testament” by author Mark Dever provides many insightful sermons that offer a big picture of the majesty of God and His promises. I chose to read “The Message of Song of Songs,” which delivers several main points regarding the overall message conveyed in the Songs section on wisdom for the married. Throughout the text, the author emphasizes that Songs is a pivotal chapter in the Old Testament, highlighting the enjoyment and building of physical and relational intimacy while also establishing identity and finding meaning in our longing for a companion and how the Bible celebrates this. The author cites several verses of Songs that illustrate these themes to support these claims.

The book highlights the beauty and value of expressing love physically and emotionally. It also emphasizes the importance of mutual respect and communication between partners to achieve true intimacy. Moreover, the Song of Songs teaches that sexual expression between a husband and wife is a gift from God that should be celebrated and enjoyed in a way that honors Him. In light of the importance of Christian relationships and the emphasis on intimacy in the Song of Songs, we can conclude that, as Christians, we have to prioritize our relationships with others and our relationship with God. This means we should seek to build relationships centered on biblical principles, and the Holy Spirit should guide us in all aspects of our lives. Furthermore, the Song of Songs offers a beautiful portrayal of how relationships built on mutual respect, communication, and intimacy can glorify God and bring fulfillment to our lives. Therefore, let us continue to reflect on the wisdom found in this book and strive to build relationships that honor God and fulfill our purpose in
