In the story the most dangerous game Connell writes an action packed and full of suspense novel. The novel is about a hunter who gets stranded on an island and finds out he isn’t alone. He meets two other characters and finds out that one of them hunts humans for fun. When he wants to leave the island he finds out that the only way to leave is to survive three days without being found. Connell uses vivid imagery to enhance the story and create a strong mood, develop characterization, and help the reader visualize the setting. Through his use of vivid imagery Connell creates a suspenseful mood throughout the story. There is always a motive for you to keep on reading because there is always action and that feeling that something is going to happen so you have to keep on reading. Here is an example of a piece of imagery that Connell uses, “ The lights of the yacht became feint everlasting fireflies.” In this piece of imagery Connell shows how Rainsford saw the yacht as he was in the water looking at the lights going farther away from him. You can picture yourself being in an ocean and swimming after a boat that just keeps getting farther away from you. In the quote, “... In this quote you can tell that Rainsford is close to an ocean because through the imagery Connell, exposes you can almost hear inside your head the waves breaking against the rocky shore.
