Scott Peterson Kills His Unborn Child and Wife
137 women around the world are killed by their partner or family member everyday (Bloom, 2020). Scott Peterson, a husband, father, and fertilizer salesman went fishing on Christmas Eve when the unimaginable happened. His wife, Laci Peterson, went missing and all the evidence pointed to him, the spouse. The couple had lived in a house about 90 miles away from San Francisco in Modesto, California. On December 24, 2002, Laci Peterson went missing, but three months later was found near her unborn child at the Berkeley Marina. When having a conversation with the detective Scott said, “It seemed too cold to golf at the club so…” (Vigliotti, 2021, para. 46). Likewise, written in an article titled “The State’s Case”, Scott had a conversation with Amie Krigbaum and Terra Venable where he mentioned how he was going to golf on the 24th of December (2004, para. ?). Although he said his plan involved golfing, he ended up switching to go fishing even though there was no reason for changing his plans other than the temperature, which while fishing, stayed the same. An article titled “The State’s Case” highlights how his alibi included him fishing on the 24th of December near San Francisco about ninety miles away when there were multiple other places where he could have fished closer to his home (2004, para. 2). The same article mentions how he has no recollection of the lures or bait he used, again proving how he would not have known what exactly fishing involved at the time of Laci’s disappearance (2004). Both his lying and the confusion he reacted with when asked why he went all the way to San Francisco and what bait he used, explains why he could have had only one reason to behave in that manner, to kill Laci. Although to everyone the couple's relationship seemed quite normal, the death of Laci turned everything around for Scott. Because he murdered both his wife and child, the sentence of life without parole acts as the right punishment for an action of that degree. The death of hundreds of women each day results from a partner or family member which Scott Peterson proves. With the murder of his wife and unborn child, Peterson added directly to this number seemingly increasing such a horrible
