The holocaust is one of the darkest times in history. The horrendous treatment of the Jewish people will always be remembered as well as the cruelty and brutality of the German people under Hitler. Elie Wiesel is one of very few to have survived and been able to tell his story. In Elie Wiesel’s excerpt, “Eight Simple, Short Words,” the narrator, Mrs. Schachter, and the Kaddish prayer all together present Wiesel’s perspective on some of the events of the Holocaust. To begin, the narrator has a very important role as this is how all of the events and information are presented to the reader.
