Through this essay I will be speaking about the Nicene Creed and I will be comparing it to Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada’s statement of faith. I will be reviewing the history of the Nicene Creed and also the history of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. I will be looking at similarities, differences and why there are similarities and differences.

Originating in the city of Nicaea in the year 325, the Nicene Creed was created to clarify the key points of the Christian faith. The First Council of Nicaea, who established the Nicene Creed, was assembled by Emperor Constantine in an attempt to settle the argument raised by Arianism over the nature of the Trinity, which was also threatening the unity of the Christian Church.

In the Nicene Creed, it also states that the Father and Son are together worshiped and my interpretation is that the Holy Spirit is a way of connecting with the Father and Son while they are all 3 in one. Later on they state that the Father is the creator of heaven and of earth, The Lord Jesus Christ, is eternal and only begotten Son of the Father that he is true God and true man. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and by His sinless life, miracles and teaching, gave full revelation of the Father. They state that He died upon the cross, He is at the right hand of the Majesty and He will come again to establish His kingdom in righteousness and peace. Also, the Holy spirit is God performing actions and possessing the attributes of the Deity. Similarities such as the trinity and how salvation has been provided to everyone through Christ's death upon the cross. Although there are some things that have been included in the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada’s statement of faith that was not mentioned in the Nicene Creed. Things such as angels, demons, marriage and divorce. So we now see that there are a lot of things that are the same within the two texts and that the PAOC statement of faith has a more in depth representation of what we believe, without straying from the Nicene
