Tony Hoagland’s poem “Jet” presents a carpe diem ideology as the narrator reminisce over the past and desires return. Discussing past events the narrator talks of how he would drink and spent time with his friends and the joy it would bring them. The poem then shifts when the narrator explains how he would give anything to live those moments a bit longer. In “Jet”, Tony Hoagland, the author, uses interstellar imagery, lively diction, and memorable flashbacks to convey his delight in being young. “The year was 2081, and everybody was finally equal”1 is a statement that in the mouth of the American writer should sound at least victorious. However, Kurt Vonnegut in the opening line of his dystopian short story Harrison Bergeron creates a highly ironical declaration, which he later ridicules by the following story. The author who gained his fame by writing the novel Slaughterhouse-Five, describes the world supposedly equal and free, but entirely bound by the laws that command the lives of people. That describes also fairly well the second short story 2 B R 0 2 B, which title refers to the famous phrase “to be or not to be”2 from William Shakespeare 's Hamlet, as mentioned in the text, “the trick telephone number that people who didn 't
But even when I was younger, I began to recognize that not everyone is wired the same way. I first began to see this in a childhood friend, [who was the polar opposite (rephrase later)]. “Why don’t you want to make more friends and play with everyone else?” “I just really don’t want to because I don’t like being around people”. This statement shocked me, and I realized there were people who were not nearly as social as I was, I became curious.

Jerquan Stewart Essay 2 11/15/17 The differences between loneliness and isolation is that loneliness is when you don 't have any friends or family and just alone and isolation is when you choose to be by yourself , as in isolating yourself from everything. Being lonely has to deal with both social barriers and isolation is just dealing with personal choice. Most people enjoy loneliness rather than isolation because isolation is something that someone choose to do and no-one wants to be lonely so it 's most likely that people will avoid being lonely. Isolation have to deal with a lot of canceling out and being by themselves or choosing to be by themselves , and also its because they have to be lonely so they can focus on what they want to do or what goal they
People will say that they are just the “media” and “don’t matter” but people who perform and become public figures are more than that. People who are famous performers and entertainers are looked up to as role models for children. When kids are young and asked what they want to be when they grow up, they answer judging by what they've seen in their life so far. If a child likes a certain singer’s music, they might want to pursue music careers later; if they see a football player, they may want to play football for a school team; if they see an interesting artist, they might want to take art lessons. Without children have such figures to look up to, the future leaders of our world won’t have the motivation to keep trying for a certain goal.
“I Was Sleeping Where the Black Oaks Move” written by Louise Erdrich focuses on a child and a grandfather horrifically observing a flood consuming their entire village and the surrounding trees, obliterating the nests of the herons that had lived there. In the future they remember back to the day when they started cleaning up after the flood, when they notice the herons without their habitat “dancing” in the sky. According to the poet’s biographical context, many of the poems the poet had wrote themselves were a metaphor. There could be many viable explanations and themes to this fascinating poem, and the main literary devices that constitute this poem are imagery, personification, and a metaphor.
