Crow Country by Kate Constable is a story of Sadie Hazzard, a girl who slips into the past to right the old wrongs and prevents it from reoccurring in the present time. The author successfully reveals the best and worst of Australians to a great extent through reflecting values that are found in contemporary Australian society and the past such as integrity, respect and acceptance. Gerald Mortlock displays the worst acts when he neglects the value of respect, however, Lachie and Ellie show Australians at their best. Kate Constable explores the idea of disrespect being shown in the past, reflecting the worst of Australians. This is evident when Gerald Mortlock, Jimmy Raven’s friend says ‘the War’s over… Jimmy is a good man, a good worker.
Tony Hoagland’s poem “Jet” presents a carpe diem ideology as the narrator reminisce over the past and desires return. Discussing past events the narrator talks of how he would drink and spent time with his friends and the joy it would bring them. The poem then shifts when the narrator explains how he would give anything to live those moments a bit longer. In “Jet”, Tony Hoagland, the author, uses interstellar imagery, lively diction, and memorable flashbacks to convey his delight in being young. With a tittle of “Jet” one could only expect a poem full of space references and with the amount that are found there is no disappointment.
Wiesel’s “Night” is a memoir in which Elie, the protagonist is recalling his concentration camp experiences, encompassing events from the end of 1941 to 1945. It is written in the perspective of a younger version of himself. Maus is a graphic novel by American visual artist Art Spiegelman, serialized from 1980 to 1991. It portrays Spiegelman conversing with his father about his encounters as a Polish Jew and Holocaust survivor. It is composed in first person, but switches between the perspective of Art and his father who he is interviewing.

People will say that they are just the “media” and “don’t matter” but people who perform and become public figures are more than that. People who are famous performers and entertainers are looked up to as role models for children. When kids are young and asked what they want to be when they grow up, they answer judging by what they've seen in their life so far. If a child likes a certain singer’s music, they might want to pursue music careers later; if they see a football player, they may want to play football for a school team; if they see an interesting artist, they might want to take art lessons. Without children have such figures to look up to, the future leaders of our world won’t have the motivation to keep trying for a certain goal.
“I Was Sleeping Where the Black Oaks Move” written by Louise Erdrich focuses on a child and a grandfather horrifically observing a flood consuming their entire village and the surrounding trees, obliterating the nests of the herons that had lived there. In the future they remember back to the day when they started cleaning up after the flood, when they notice the herons without their habitat “dancing” in the sky.
