In the story Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life, Jeremy Fink is portrayed as a nerdy, germaphobe and clever 13 year old boy. Jeremy and his best friend, Lizzy, go on a hunt for four keys all over Manhattan when they get a box addressed to Jeremy from his dead father. The keys to the box are missing and he needs to open it by his thirteenth birthday. An example of Jeremy’s nerdiness is “...Lizzy would laugh at me for borrowing the eighth grade textbooks from the library to get a jump on my assignments…” (Mass 1).
During the book The Other Wes Moore the author proves that good parenting will ultimately decide a child's future, This can lead to two vastly different life styles for both the author and the other Wes Moore. The book is written by Wes Moore and tells a story about two boys nearly the same age, live relatively close to each other, and have the same name. As a result of Parenting the main character Wes had gotten himself into a lot of trouble at school. This would eventually lead to his Mother making the rational decision of sending him to Valley Forge Military Academy.
The Other Wes Moore by Wes Moore is about identity. Throughout the book, Wes Moore questions why he and the other Wes Moore had such different lives, even though, they shared a name. In doing so, it caused him to look deeper into his background and himself and wonder how he ended up where he was, along with the other Wes Moore. According to Wes Moore, “As I’ve puzzled over the issue, I’ve become convinced that there are some clear and powerful measures that can be taking during this crucial time in a young person’s life” (Moore 179). He had discovered that he and the other Wes Moore had similar upbringings, but the choices he made differed from the other Wes Moore’s choices.
What does family mean to you? If you 're like most people, then you most likely believe that we are products of our environment. This idea could not be better represented than the two young boys that this story is about. In “The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates,” written by Wes Moore, two fatherless young boys that grow up with the same name and that live in the same neighborhood couldn 't have taken more different paths in life.
Throughout one's life, there are many decisions to be made. In retrospect, some decisions, such as what to wear in the morning, can seem trivial. On the other hand, there are more extensive decisions that impact the rest of one's life. With these decisions, people tend to base their conclusions on what motivates them. When an individual finds someone with similar beliefs and values, it can take away from expectations set by one's parents, create a different path that was not anticipated and construct a more meaningful life.
Wes Moore’s Journey in Life The superficial similarities of two kids have an identical name, Wes Moore, grown up in the same neighborhood at the same time with fatherless families. Both kids had beaten into troubles with the police. However, their paths in adulthood diverged due to their personal choices, decisions, and values, forming two different experiences in career and life.

In the picture, one mother and three children sit and lay on the ground looking away from the viewer. The mother 's clothes are dirty and torn, along with the children’s clothes laying on the ground and at her side. For instance, the only person wearing shoes is the mother. She appears hopeless, distant, and tired as she looks at her dirty and half-naked children.
The environment in which an individual grows up in can affect life greatly. Our surroundings influence one’s personality, self-expression, and individuality, otherwise known as identity. Finding one’s true self is the most grueling stage of life and expectations of family and society make the process even harder. One’s true identity can sometimes clash with hopes of others, thus breaking tradition and/or family ties. Pressure to change will always be present, but staying true to uniqueness will prevail.
One’s environment plays a positive or negative role in shaping a person’s identity depending on where they live. Growing up in a bad neighborhood, one might be surrounded by gangsters, dangerous streets, and have a higher chance of becoming a burden on society. Growing up in a rich neighborhood, one might worry less and get whatever they want; so life is not a burden. But being exposed in a poor environment shapes one’s identity positively by motivating a person to grow and evolve for the better. The Environment Can Control In times of difficulty, individuals tend to change who they are. For example, when one tends to grow up and go through the stages of adulthood, they change their ways in which they act or think. Situations and environment are able to control and manipulate an individual. Situations can become so severe that they can lead to savagery in one’s individual environment.
Argument Essay: In this quote from the roman poet Horace he claims that “adversity can elicit talents and prosperous circumstances can remain the same”. Horace hits the target with this quote, because from personal experience when my grandfather passed away it brought out the toughest bond in our family and myself. Horace's assertions were also correct because when one is comfortable with themselves, or in a joyous lifestyle they tend to not change this, so everything is habitual throughout. Another way Horace's assertions were correct, because from my own observation of the world, and if adversity is present it develops a person's character in a negative or positive way.
