“The Outsiders” is a movie about a boy who lives with his brothers, Darry and Sodapop along with a group known as the greasers. When watching the movie I saw that the camera angles were unique and impressive, and the set really puts the images you get from the book to life. The director, Francis Ford Coppola, took the information given about the characters and illustrated them beautifully in the movie. In the movie Ponyboy Curtis is a Greaser, and he’s in a gang with his two brothers Sodapop, and Darry, and four others. On the other side of town there are the Socs or the Socials. The movie is about Ponyboy’s journey of finding out that maybe Greasers and Socs aren’t that different. When watching the movie I saw that the actors took time to get into their character. The role I thought was off was Dally. The actors did a good job pursuing the roles and I think he brought his role to life, but when reading the book it says ‘Dally has a elfish-face with high cheekbones, a pointed chin, small, sharp …show more content…

The costumes in the movie have a big impact because you have the rich and popular, and then you have the wrong side of town greasy haired kids, and they put that into the story very well. When I looked at the costume designs, I saw how they are opposites. I could see that they took the book's description and put it to life. The greasers have jean jackets, long baggy shirts, and the iconic greasy hair, while the Socs have that preppy look with blue madras shirts. The movie differs than the book in many ways. For example, a big part of the book is Ponyboy, his brothers and their life at home, where in the movie it feels like the main part of the movie is the death of Bob Sheldon and when Johnny and Ponyboy go to the church to escape charges for murder. By skipping the home part, the movie doesn’t have a lot of character
