Greed for money and material things is one of the deadly sins. Chaucer frequently points this in the Pardoner’s Tale. Chaucer is use his lust for money to describe the kind of materialism. The love of money is the root of all evil. The story depicts the impact of a person’s greed for life. “ If one could only get the gold away, back to my house, or else to yours, perhaps for as you know, the gold is ours...would make us hang.”(Pg 147) They do not care who they stole money. They only care about their own statue. They do not want to appear like a robbers. However, people can not die it will be another way to interpret. People does not care about their own rather the well-being of those around them. The travelers caused death by greed. In fact, they kill each other to obtain more provisions for themselves. The youngest traveler say, “Lord, to think I might have all that treasure to myself alone!”(Pg 149) He intentionally killed his teammates because of his love of money. The bible says “ For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have emed from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many snow.” (1 Timothy 6:10) Nowadays, THere are a lot of crime because money. Many people are willing to do anything to achieve their own interest. Because of the love of money, and now we have lost respect, friendship and love.
