The Perks of Being a Wallflower Book Censorship is an argument that many people may come across, because of differing viewpoints. There was a Supreme Court case in 1982 where people said that if they removed books from public school libraries violates the First Amendment if the school actually would deny the students the right to access new ideas. The Pico case is by far the most important court decision that talks about school libraries and people’s right to the First Amendment. Throughout the years, certain aspects have changed when it comes to book banning. Nowadays, if a member of a certain community, school board member, or parent doesn’t agree with the book being in the school or public library, they can “challenge” that specific book.
