Introduction: A common theme in most Young Adult literature would be the bully. No matter what kind of story you might be reading there is almost always a bully, they can be young or old and are often one of the main characters. Authors are able to portray any character as a mean person and sometimes that quality is what makes a character that much more appealing. No matter when the book was written it shows that people do not really change all that much and there is always going to be that person who puts others down to feel better about their self. 1. The clique consists of five girls: Massie Block, Alicia Riveria, Dylan Marvil, Kristen Gregory, and Clare Lyons. Massie, is the Alpha of the group, her father is a very wealthy man and she is used to getting whatever she wants. Alicia, is the beta and is always trying to take Massie’s spot as Alpha. Dylan Marvil is the one with the celebrity connection thanks to her famous mom Merri Lee Marvil. Kristen is the smart one and also has the least money, she goes to school on a scholarship. Clare Lyons is the new girl living in Massie’s guest house. It is Massie’s own personal mission to make Clare’s life miserable. Massive convinces the girls in the clique and others in the school not to speak to Clare and gave her the title of a “Loser Beyond Repair.” But through being so mean to Clare she actually connected and formed a true friendship with her. Bullying brought the two together in a strange way because Massie could finally relate to Clare when her dad lost his job. Without Massie being mean and creating drama throughout the book this story would not be nearly as interesting and the bullying is really what often keeps the storyline
