The coming-of-age novel The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky is a banned book in many different schools. Certain groups of people object to their children reading this book due to the profanity and graphic content that the book contains. The topics include: sexual assault, mental illness, alcohol, drugs, homosexuality, date rape, and abuse. The topics that are addressed in the book are for a mature audience. However, there is a much deeper meaning behind them that I believe all students need to hear.
